“Jaymie” was in a leadership role and suddenly her boss’ role became available.  She was keen to advance her career and to take on the challenge of a senior executive level leadership role.

“Jaymie” presented at her first meeting with her coach unclear about the information required in her CV and her answers to the Key Selection Criteria (KSC).

The Process:

“Jaymie” and her coach developed a coaching plan that focused on:

  • Understanding the sub-text of the Position Description. You see, applying for roles at that level require you to understand the hidden key issues (sub-text) that are important to address in your application to be shortlisted for interview.
  • Creating a CV that was specific to the position description and targeted the sub-text.
  • Formulating answers to the KSC that answered the question and addressed the position sub-text.
  • Articulating her leadership style and making sure it fit with the organisations leadership competency framework.
  • Later, once she was shortlisted we focused on interview technique for executive roles.
