From Wanting to Leave to Leader – Rebekah's Career Acceleration

The Challenge
When Rebekah contacted Future U Coaching, she was juggling multiple roles across the community services and education sectors. On paper, she was successful. In reality, she felt burnt out, frustrated, and ready to walk away.
She believed the answer was to move into a completely new industry. But during our early sessions, the real picture emerged.
Her real source of her dissatisfaction wasn't the industry or her job. It was the feeling that she was invisible when it came to promotions. The people around her valued her work, but they weren't seeing her as a leader in waiting
She was feeling overlooked for the leadership opportunities she knew she could excel in.
The Approach
We pivoted her program from Career Change to Career Acceleration. Together, we designed a leadership acceleration strategy that would shift perceptions and put her firmly on the radar of key decision makers.
Her personalised coaching program included:
- Making her ambitions visible – Clearly communicating to senior management that she was ready for leadership.
- Owning her wins – Identifying her achievements and learning to advocate for them with the people who mattered.
- Activating her champions – Building and engaging a network of advocates who could promote her potential behind the scenes.
- Leading through action – Changing her daily habits to consistently model leadership qualities.
Strategic visibility – Creating opportunities to connect with the right decision makers at the right time.
The Outcome
The changes were both immediate and lasting:
- Her professional network began actively promoting her as a leader on the rise.
- Senior leaders started to see her in a new light, recognising her readiness for greater responsibility.
- Her team responded positively to her leadership style and presence.
The GAME CHANGER, within 3 months she was invited to apply for a secondment which was significant promotion within her organisation.
Rebekah's Reflection
"I thought I needed to leave my industry to find fulfilment. Instead, I learned how to take control of my career story and let others see the leader I already was."
